First Int’l Bengal Literary Summit starts today

The first International Bengal Literary Summit or Bangla Sahitya Sammelon starts from today at 3pm at the Osmani Smrity Auditorium. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the event. The first performance will see the staging of the play Noddiu Natim based on the works of late playwright Humayun Ahmed. The drama will be staged at 7pm at Abdul Karim Sahitya Bisharad Auditorium of Bangla Academy in the capital. Asadul Islam has written and directed the play. The summit will run for three days.
Banlga Sahitya Sammelon will be a conglomeration of artistes from both Bangladesh and West Bengal, India. Anyone above 12 can join in the festivity by registering at: . Apart from stage dramas a number of other segments featuring recitations, song renditions, folk performances will be held in makeshift stages. Even films will be screened highlighting the cultre and heritage of Bengal.
Mad Theatre's drama Noddiu Natim was premiered last year. Since then the drama has been performed seven times in Indian and Britain.
