Mohammedan end voyage losing last match
Mohammedan Sporting Club, the traditional black and white jerseys, end their league run losing the last match to Gopibagh's Brothers Union by 1-0 margin on Friday at the premier football venue in the country Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka.
The old professional football club could not do that well in the to be finished soon league. They were at the fifth place on the table with 32 points. On the other hand, the Gopibagh boys moved two steps up to place seventh after collecting full three points from the match.
The last matches of the league had raised questions of professionalism and ethics. The fans had been criticising the performance of Sheikh Jamal in their last match where the Dhanmondi Club lost it to a comparatively much weak Farashganj Sports Club by 3-1 margin. The body language of the Jamal booters made the fans believe that they were giving the match to the Farashganj boys to win.
Winning the match, the bottom-liner Farashganj had moved one step up on the table leaving other bottom-liners Rahmatganj in the row to relegation.
Now, the tenth edition of league is going to finish today (Saturday). Rahmatganj will play their last and vital match against Saif SC at 3:30pm while Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra will engage with Arambagh Krira Sangha at 5:45pm at the same venue.
If the Rahmatganj can make a miracle and win it like the Farashganj, they will also be able to escape relegation. The old Dhaka team have records of beating comparatively stronger opponents before and are called the 'Giant killers'.
So, the question is who were to be relegated. Is it Rahmatganj or Farashganj? Without any doubt the fans will look forward to see who were to relegate from the league now.
