Smartphone and Tab Expo ends today

The Smartphone and Tab Expo 2018, a mega event showcasing smart gadgets in the country will end today. The fair is being organised for the ninth time by the event management firm Expo Maker. On the opening day on January 11 at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Agargaon in the capital. Post and Telecom and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar made the opening speech at the inaugural session. This year's expo has been styled 'Techshohor Smartphone & Tab Expo (STE)-2018.' ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak was present as special guest on the occasion.
Mustafa Jabbar said, "Bangladesh has turned into a smartphone maker from importer due to business friendly policies implemented by the government. The local manufacturing of smartphones will enable users to get phones at affordable prices."
 "The government has cut down the tax for the equipment for assembling handest from 36 per cent to 1 per cent inspiring companies to go for local manufacturing. One local company has already started manufacturing. We are very hopeful that two or three foreign brands will start manufacturing within this year," Mustafa added.
Adressing the function, ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak said, "The number of local handset users has been increasing day by day. We believe Bangladesh will get a new identity in the world for its local smart phone brand."
