College girl, Juba League leader among three die

A total of three people- including a college girl and a local Jubo League leader- died of alleged alcohol consumption in Rajshahi and Sirajganj on Saturday.
In Rajshahi, a college girl allegedly died of excessive alcohol consumption on Saturday afternoon.
The victim was identified as Ritu Khatun (20), a second year honours student of Kamela Haq Degree College, and daughter of late Nekbar Hossain from Dashmari's Purbapara area of the city.
Police on information recovered the body from Ritu's Dashmari residence.
Victim's family members, however, said she was long been a drug addict. They believe excessive alcohol consumption on Friday night was the cause of her death, Motihar Thana OC Mehedi Hasan told this correspondent adding, "One Surma Beguam (20) and Rejaul were arrested in this connection."
Meanwhile in Sirajganj, two people- including a local Jubo League leader, died and three others fall sick after allegedly taking liquor at Soydabad of Sadar upazila.
The deceased are Alam Sheikh, 42, son of Jamat Ali Sheikh of Soyedabad and general secretary of Jubo League's Ward-9 of Soydabad union, and Ramjan Ali, 45, from Konabari village of Belkuchi upazila.
Officer-in-charge of Sirajganj Sadar Police Station Rafiqul Islam said Alam Sheikh and Ramjan along with three labourers galloped liquor in Soydabar rehabilitation area on Thursday night and fell ill.
