Primary and Mass Education Minister Advocate Mostafizur Rahman on Sunday said poverty, unconsciousness, child labour, communication problem and illiteracy are the main reasons behind drop out at the primary school level.

“As per the annual primary school census of 2017, the present rate of drop out in the primary education is 18.8 per cent,” said the minister while responding to a query made by treasury bench lawmaker M Israfil Alam of Naogaon-6 at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban in Dhaka, reports BSS.

Various programmes are underway at the field level for checking the drop out of the children at the primary school, he added.
