21 persons honoured for contribution to tourism
Twenty-one persons, including 12 writers and journalists, have been honoured for their outstanding contribution to the tourism sector.
They were honoured at a reception programme accorded by The Daily Rangamati, a Bengali newspaper, at National Press Club in Dhaka on Sunday.
A discussion, titled “Advantages of Peace Treaty: Wide Enhancement of Tourism Industry in Chittagong Hill Tracts”, was also held on the occasion.
The honoured writers and journalists are: Nasima Akhter Shoma, joint news editor of The Daily Observer, ex-president of Dhaka Sub-Editors Council and president of Gangchil Journalist Forum, a tourism-based journalist organisation; Mafizur Rahman Khan Babu, treasurer of Dhaka Shangbadik Paribar Bohumukhi Shamabai Samity, sports and cultural secretary of Dhaka Journalist Union and member of Gangchil Journalist Forum; Anjuman Ara Shilpi, joint general secretary of Dhaka Sub-Editors Council and member of Gangchil Journalist Forum; Ashraful Islam, mofussil editor of Daily Ittefaq and former President of Dhaka Sub-Editors Council; Atikul Islam, editor of weekly Shachitra Shangbadik; Khandokar Ismail, writer on tourism affairs, anchor and media personality; Mohammad Rezaul Karim Khokon, writer and columnist; Jahirul Haque Shamim, editor of Monthly Shamahar; Suraya Munni, senior reporter of RTV; Giasuddin, Baghaichhari Upazila correspondent of Daily Rangamati; and Nurul Alam, Khagrachchari District correspondent of Daily Rangamati.
State Minister for Finance and Planning MA Mannan, MP, attended the reception and discussion programme as chief guest while Chairman of Board of Directors of Bangladesh Krishi Bank Mohammad Ismail, and Managing Director of Petelco Limited Mohammad Masud Khan were present as special guests.
The programme was presided over by Publisher of Daily Rangamati Mohammad Jahangir Kamal.
