Country’s law and order situation has improved, claims Amu

Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu on Sunday said country's law and order situation has improved enough as the crimes like murder, rape, women repression, child repression, dacoity, robbery and abduction decreased recently.
"Law enforcement agency members are working in a coordinated way to control crimes. If people are killed by hurling petrol bombs, panic is created and a situation is created that can pose a threat to life and property in the name of political programmes for releasing convicted BNP Chief Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman or others, the government will take strong action," Amu added while briefing media after the meeting of Cabinet Committee on law and order situation. The meeting was held at the Home Ministry conference room on Monday with the minister in the chair. Amu is the chairperson of the committee.
The minister said that law enforcement agencies have lodged cases against 860 persons involved with drug paddling, trading and sheltering the culprits' involved with such occurrences. Of them, 188 persons are already in jail.
Home Minister Assaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan, Law Minister Anisul Huq, State Minister for Labour Mujibul Haque Chunnu were present, among others, the meeting.
