Case filed over worker’s death in stone-quarry collapse

SYLHET, Feb 12: A case has been filed against three quarry owners over the death of a worker in a hill collapse while extracting stones in Shah Arefin Tilla in Companiganj upazila.
Victim's wife filed the case with Companiganj Police Station on Sunday night, said its officer-in-charge Md Shafiqur Rahman Khan.
The accused are Shukur Ali, 28, son of late Montaz Ali, Hossain Miah, 27, and Bakul Miah, 27, sons of late Intaz Ali of Jaliarpara village in the upazila.
A chunk of mud collapsed on a group of workers while extracting stones at the quarry on Sunday morning, leaving Bashir Uddin, 42, son of Rupa Miah of Putamara village, injured.
Later, he died on the way to Companignaj Health Complex.
