Five killed, 12 hurt in road mishaps in six districts

At least five persons were killed and 12 others injured in separate road accidents in six districts- Natore, Brahmanbaria, Bogra, Mymensingh, Gopalganj and Kurigram, in two days.
NATORE: A bus crushed a woman on Natore-Naogaon road in front of Naldanga Municipality crossing area under Naldanga Upazila here on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Rekha Begum, 46, wife of Ashraf Ali, of Brahmapur Village in the upazila.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Naldanga Police Station (PS) Md. Mostafa Kamal confirmed the news.
He said driver of a Rajshahi-bound bus from Madhnagar Village in the upazila lost its control near a bridge and hit the woman, leaving her seriously injured.
Later, she died on the way to Natore Sadar Hospital, the OC added.
BRAHMANBARIA: A CNG-run auto-rickshaw crushed a minor at Daulatbari area under Singarbeel Union in Bijoynagar Upazila here Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Md Tasfi Ahmed, 5, son of Maznu Mia, of Singarbeel Madhyapara area in the upazila and a student of class one at Daulatbari Kindergarten.
Bijoynagar PS OC Md Ali Arshad said the minor was crossing the road near his kindergarten when an Akhaura-bound auto-rickshaw dashed him, leaving him seriously injured.
Local people rushed him to District Sadar Hospital where on-duty doctor declared him dead.
BOGRA: A speedy bus crushed a motorcyclist and injured two on Bogra-Naogaon highway at Bibirpukur area under Kahalu Upazila here on Monday noon.
The deceased was identified as Budu Mondal, 28, son of Rafiq Mondal, of Godarpara area in Bogra Sadar Upazila, while the injured are Nadim Hossen, 25, and Shahed Mia, 22, of the same area.
Sub-Inspector of Kahalu PS Bajeswar Barman said a Naogaon-bound bus from Bogra collided with a motorcycle at the said area, leaving three injured. Later, one died at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.
Following the incident, local people vandalised the bus.
MYMENSINGH: A truck driver was killed and four others injured in a road accident at Chandipasha area on Mymensingh-Kishoreganj road in Nandail upazila here early Monday.
The deceased was identified as Solaiman, 22, son of Faruq Mia, of Kuliarchar Upazila in Kishoreganj District.
Solaiman died on the spot and four others were injured when his truck collided with another truck about 1 am, said Nandail PS OC Md Yunus Ali.
The injured were admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH).
Police recovered the body and sent it to MMCH morgue for an autopsy.
Police seized the trucks, the OC said.
GOPALGANJ: Three persons were injured in a road accident in Muksudpur Upazila here on Monday.
The identities of the injured could not be known             immediately.
A Dhaka-bound oil tanker collided with a pickup van from Khulna near Purba Salina Box area on Dhaka-Khulna highway about 4 pm on Monday, leaving three people seriously injured.
The injured were first sent to Muksudpur Upazila Health Complex and later to Khulna Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
Muksudpur PS OC Mohammad Azizur Rahman confirmed the incident.
KURIGRAM: An army man was killed and three others were injured in a road accident in Rowmari Upazila here on Monday afternoon.
Deceased Zakir Hossain, 22, served at Bangladesh Army's No. 36 artillery at Shimultoli in Gazipur District. He was son of Abdul Momin, of Golabari Village in Roumari Upazila.
The injured Mahmud Hasan Prince, 22, Naim, 22, and Jwel, 22 are residents of the same village.
Jadurchar Union Unit Awami League President Shakhawat Hossain Sabuj said a trolley hit two motorcycles in Shiberdangi area in the upazila about 1:30pm, leaving the four bikers critically injured.
