5.3 Assam quake jolts Bangladesh

A 5.3 magnitude tremor jolted capital Dhaka and other parts of the country on Wednesday caused by a earthquake in Assam.

The tremor was felt in Dhaka, Narayanganj, Rajshahi, Netrakina, Nilphamari, Lalmonirhat and Panchgarh.

The epicentre of the quake was at Assam, 293 kilometres North from  Bangladesh Seismic Centre at Agargaon, according to Dhaka met office director Shamsuddin Ahmed.

The tremor was felt at 10:50 am.

There was no immediate report of any damage or casualty.
