The Judge, Shahed Nuruddin, of the Speedy Trial Tribunal in his observation in the cases of the grisly grenade attack on a rally  at  Bangabandhu Avenue on August 21 in 2004 said that the Bengali nation obtained independence though a bloody liberation war and supreme sacrifice of our mothers and sisters.
The nation was able to frame a constitution for ensuring rule of law, democracy and justice. The defeated force of 71 tried to undermine the spirit of Independence and War of Liberation.
The defeated forces halted the pace of development by killing Bangabandhu and his family members. They tried to humiliate the red-green flag and tarnish the image of the country abroad by pushing it backward. The defeated forces unitedly killed Bangabandhu on August 15 in 1975. Various conspiracies were hatched through enacting the Indemnity bill. Efforts were made not to conduct the murder trial. But 23 years 2 months after the killing of Banagabandhu the nation was freed from the stigma through a judicial process. After killing of Bangabandhu, four
national leaders were killed in a conspiracy.  Later a vile attempt was made in a grenade attack on August 21 to create a vacuum in the Awami League leadership.  This incident happened in front of Awmai League central office with assistance from the then State organs in broad daylight by Arges grenades, which are commonly used in battle fields.
Many questions arose in the mind of the people. Does politics mean mounting beastly attacks on the opposition political party and make it leaderless. It is not acceptable despite having ideological differences between parties. We must endeavour to cement democracy by showing liberal principles towards the opposition party, no matter who is in power.
The common people do not want this kind of politics. If this trend continues people might have a wrong notion about politics.
This court does not want to see incidents like the Hazrat Shahjalal Shrine at Sylhet, the gruesome attack on former finance minister SM Kibria, bomb attack at Ramna Batamul and grenade attack on Sheikh Hasina recur.
