Nine killed in road mishaps in five districts

Nine people were killed and eight injured in separate road accidents in five districts- Faridpur, Gopalganj, Netrakona, Brahmanbaria and Barishal, in three days.
FARIDPUR: Two people were killed and five injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a three-wheeler on Dhaka-Khulna highway near Gangabordy Agriculture College in the district town on Thursday morning.
The deceased were identified as Azizul Haque Mridha, 46, head teacher of Raikali Government Primary School, and Sujan Patwary, 25, a mason. Both hailed from Kanaipur Union.
Faridpur Fire Service Officer Md Saifuzzaman and locals said a Magura-bound truck from Dhaka collided with the three-wheeler at the said area at 11am, leaving one killed on the spot and six injured.
They were rushed to Faridpur Medical College Hospital where another died.   
GOPALGANJ: A microbus driver was killed in a road accident at Gopalpur area of Kashiani Upazila early Thursday.
The deceased driver was identified as Farhad Sheikh, 28.
Inspector of Ramdia Police Outpost Khandaker Aminur Rahman said the Faridpur-bound microbus from Gopalganj dashed against as parked truck at the said area, leaving the microbus driver seriously injured.
He was rushed to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital where he was declared dead.
On the other hand, a minor boy was crushed under a bus on Dhaka-Khulna highway at Ratoil area of Kashiani Upazila on Wednesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Rifat Sheikh, 10, son of Madhu Sheikh of Ghonapara Village in the upazila.
Kashiani PS OC Md Azizur Rahman confirmed the incident and said a speedy bus dashed Rifat from behind when he was returning home riding a bicycle, leaving him seriously injured.
He was rushed to Upazila Health Complex where he was declared dead.
NETRAKONA: A man was killed and another injured in a collision between a bus and a battery-run easy-bike on Kalmakanda-Lengura road near Gouripur Bridge in Kalmakanda Upazila on Wednesday evening.
The deceased was identified as Kajal Mia, 40, son of Riaz Uddin of Chandigarh Village in Durgapur Upazila of the district.
The injured Zahid, 30, was sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
Local and police sources said a Lengura-bound bus from Dhaka collided head-on with the easy-bike at the said area, leaving one dead on the spot and another injured.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kalmakanda Police Station (PS) Mazharul Karim confirmed the incident and said a case was under process in this connection.
BRAHMANBARIA: A man was killed and two others were injured in an accident on Nabinagar-Companyganj road at Koroibari Uttar Mosque area in Jinodpur Union of Nabinagar Upazila on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Basudeb Rishi, 40, son of Sudhan Deb Rishi of Dhulabari area in Nabinagara Municipality.
The injured could not be identified immediately.
Police and locals said a CNG-run auto-rickshaw carrying six passengers fell into a roadside ditch at the said area, leaving three injured.
Later, one died on way to Upazila Health Complex.
BARISHAL: Two people were killed in separate road accidents in Babuganj and Bakerganj upazilas on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Hasib Hossen, 18, son of Harun Sarder of Singherkathi Village in Babuganj Upazila and Selim Sikder, 40, Azhar Sikder of Bakerganj Upazila.
Family members said Hasib was seriously injured after a motorcycle accident on Monday. He was admitted to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital (SBMCH) where he died at 9pm.
On the other hand, Selim was also seriously injured after an accident and was admitted to SBMCH where he died at 6pm.
The bodies were recovered and sent to the SBMCH morgue for autopsies.
