Sagar, 5 others survive Impress chopper crash

The Managing Director of Impress Telefilms, Faridur Reza Sagar, singer Ferdous Ara and four others narrowly escaped a helicopter crash in Rajshahi's Godagari upazila on Thursday.
Singer Ferdous Ara and Farzana Brownia, chief of Sarnakishori Network Foundation, were travelling with Sagar in the same helicopter.  Channel I director Shykh Seraj told journalists that the accident occurred when the team was returning to Dhaka after concluding shooting session of a 'Sarnakishori' programme for the channel in the afternoon.
The helicopter crashed into the land due to inclement weather, he said.
Sagar and four others received first aid as their injuries were 'minor,' according to a report published by the private broadcaster's news website on Thursday.
The Impress Aviation helicopter crashed when it was flying back to Dhaka after a shooting programme at a school in Godagari on Thursday. The Foundation promotes adolescent health.
 The S2-AHW helicopter took off from the Godagari helipad at 2:35pm, local police station chief Jahangir Alam told bdnews24.com. "But the pilot lost control and the helicopter crashed on the side of a nearby under-construction building."    The police and firemen rescued the passengers and took them to the Upazila Nirbahi Officer's office. "The chopper crashed due to bad weather," said Jahangir quoting the pilot, Syed Saker Ali.
"We are investigating the reason behind the crash," said Mahir Uddin, chief engineer of Impress Aviation.
Jahangir Alam, Officer-in-Charge of Godagari Police Station, who was a witness to the crash, has confirmed the incident.
The celebrities went to Anwara Fahim Ziauddin Pilot Girls High School to attend a programme of felicitation for outstanding girls on Thursday, local lawmaker Omar Faruk Chowdhury.
As they were about to head back to Dhaka, their privately-owned helicopter crashed moments after taking off from a nearby helipad and slammed back to the ground, the police official said.
Sagar, Ferdous Ara, and Farzana Brownia will take a flight to return home. They were taken to Rajshahi airport when the report was filed in the afternoon.
