Women safety should be a non-negotiable issue in modern days but the current scenario is pretty nerve wrecking and at the same time compromised altogether. According to Odikar, an NGO focusing on human rights of Bangladesh revealed in one of their studies that from 2001-2018 (May) the number of gang rape victims is approximately 1295 for females and on the other hand number of sexual assault/stalking cases touched approximately 2995 from 2010-2018 (May).
Today the number of women working outside of home is very high in our country. But it's a matter of great shame for the society being unable to provide a secure atmosphere for them. This country is independent but still half of its population has to depend on the mercy of their fate and surroundings in regular basis.
To resolve this issue, Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) has recently started ladies bus service from June 2018 in Dhaka city. But the number of buses dedicated to this service is way less than the actual demand. To mitigate the supply-demand ratio, companies/organizations are coming forward to provide transportation service for their women employees. But again, this only can resolve one part of the issue. What about those women who don't work but still need to move from one place to another by their own? There the ridesharing services come to the rescue.
