Southern nomination aspirants now in Dhaka
Nomination aspirants of Awami League, BNP and other parties with lot of supporters, activists left Barishal for Dhaka to get party nomination for 11 national pools.
Most of them went Dhaka in water vessels and some of them by road.
AL nomination seekers reserving two passenger launches, under the leadership of southern AL main leader Abul Hassanat Abdulla, left Dhaka for buying nomination papers on Saturday night, and they filed nomination papers on Sunday.
A total of 13 candidates purchased AL nomination paper for Barisal 5 city seat.
Only one candidate purchased nomination paper for Barshai 1, Gaurnadi Agailjhara seat and that candidate is Abul Hassanat Abdulla.
About 300 AL aspirants of Barishal division purchased nomination papers against 21 parliament seats.
Saidur Rahaman Rintu, AL leader and Sundarban Navigation Company owner said around five thousand supporters with city mayor Serniabat Sadik Abdulla left Barishal for Dhaka.
On the other hand, BNP supporters of nominations seekers silently and separately went Dhaka by road and waterway in a week.
Bilkis Jahan Shirin, Organizing Secretary BNP Southern Region, said most of the nomination seeking candidates, along with their supporters, are now in Dhaka for submitting nomination papers from the party high command.
She claimed that about two hundred activists of the party in south region arrested recently for political cause and wing to this BNP election activities hampered.
She demanded immediate release of arrested party activists to create level playing field before the election.
Mojibor Rahaman Sorwar, former Barishal City Corporation Mayor and MP, said, “I reached Dhaka about one week ago and stayed here for election purpose. I will file my nomination paper next day.”
Ebayedul Haque Chan, Freedom Fighter and President of BNP (South) unit, also is in Dhaka for collecting party nomination paper.
