Love for Africa

Shakir Ahmed

If I were a gentle breeze,
over Africa I'd blow.
If I were a cascading fall
through Africa I'd flow.
If I were fluffy blue autumnal sky
drizzle I'd blue on races without shy.
If I were a pregnant cloud
on the resourceful lands of Africa
gently shower I would
to sprout greeneries,
and to extinguish ethnic forest fires.
Let me be the lands of Africa
to burst my chest out
showing diamond mines
and billions of resources infinite.
I wish I were the soft rhetoric
of the greatest black leaders heroic
to urge to live in a family
fathered by single lion jointly.
oh my loving Hema
oh my beloved Lendu
oh my darling Hauti
oh my friend Tutsi
you all must remember
life lies in love forever.
