Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, who was once involved in journalism, wants to return to his old profession.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday at the Awami League's political office in Dhanmondi, Quader said, “I used to be a journalist. I was involved in quality journalism. I will not remain a minister forever. A lot of big ministers are not around anymore. When the ministry is gone, I will become a journalist again.”

Born in Boro Rajpur of Companyganj in Noakhali, Quader graduated in political science from the University of Dhaka, reports bdnews24.com.

He became involved in politics during his student years but continued to work as a journalist and write. He has also served as the assistant editor of the ‘Banglar Bani’ newspaper. Nine of his books have also been published.

Along with being the general secretary of the ruling party, he has also been heading the Road Transport and Bridge Ministry.
