BEPZA opens new fire station at KEPZ
Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) opened a new Fire Service & Civil Defence Station at Karnaphuli EPZ in Chattogram on Monday to strengthen the fire prevention and workplace safety as well as the operations of rescue and assistance in fire disaster.
BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Mohd Habibur Rahman Khan inaugurated the fire station as the chief guest, said a press release.
Director General of Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence Brig General (Retd) Ali Ahmed Khan, Chief Engineer of BEPZA Ashraful Kabir, General Manager of Karnaphuli EPZ Moshiuddin Bin Mesbah and General Manager of Chittagong EPZ Md Khorshid Alam also attended the inaugural ceremony.
During the inaugural ceremony Major General Habib said Bangladesh EPZ is 'Bonanza for the Investors'.
Investors from 37 countries have set up industries in the EPZs.
Industrial friendly peaceful investment climate is the main attraction of EPZ and the key strength of EPZs is amicable cohesive teamwork and harmonious relations among Worker-Management-Owner.
Currently 45 operating industries are in Karnaphuli EPZ where 73,704 workers are working.
BEPZA has set up this fire station in KEPZ to assure the safety of lives and properties of workers & entrepreneurs both and ensure workplace safety including tackle the emergency situation, he added.
