A passenger bus overturned and fell into a canal at Banasree, near Meradia Bazar, in the capital on Saturday (November 30) evening.
The bus belonging to Alif Transport, overturned and plunged into the canal at about 5:42pm.
However, Fire Service could not how many passengers were on the bus during the accident.
Receiving news of the accident, two units of the Fire Service went to the spot and began the rescue operation.
The duty officer of the Fire Service control room Rozina Akter confirmed the accident.
She said: "A bus of Alif Transport overturned and fell into a canal in front of Meradia, Banasree. Initially, we didn't find anybody searching inside the bus. The casualties will be known when the bus will be rescued. Police informed us, and we are conducting the rescue operation with two units at the scene."
