Girl rescued foiling trafficking, 1 held

BENAPOLE: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) rescued a young girl foiling a bid to traffic her to India through Daulatpur border on Friday night.

Police also arrested an alleged human trafficker, Sohag Hossain,27, son of Alam Sheikh, a resident of Khanjahan Ali Road area at Shiromoni in Khulna district.

Lance Nayek Rezaul Islam of Khulna BGB-23 said a team of the border force, acting on a tip-off, conducted a raid in the border area at about 8:00 pm and rescued the girl, hailing from Dumuria of Khulna district, and arrested Sahag.

Later, the rescued girl and Sohag were handed over to Benapole Port Police Station.
