KUSHTIA, Sept 6 : Joint General Secretary of the ruling Awami League Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif said on Saturday that it could not be ruled out that BNP senior vice-president Tarique Rahman has link with setting up of the militant outfit Al-Qaeda network in Bangladesh. "BNP founder Ziaur Rahman was an agent of Pakistan and the Inter-services Intelligence (ISI) of Pakistan assisted in floating the party following the gruesome killing of Bangabandhu in 1975 and the party has so far been run by ISI. There are evidences that Tarique Rahman has also been working as an agent of ISI. He might have link in suspected setting up base of Al-Qaeda network in Bangladesh," he said. Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif said this while talking to reporters after distributing relief materials among the flood-victims at Bhagjot Nabagram Secondary School ground of Daulatpur Upazila in the district yesterday. Acting Secretary General of BNP Mirza Fakhrul Islam and others were used to tall talks but they didn't take part in the war of liberation. In reply to a question, Hanif said, "AK Khondker wrote in his book that his strength of thinking already dried up due to old-age. Taking this an opportunity, an evil outside force has used him to write such misleading statement (on independence)." ?BSS
