
The country's leading mobile service operator Grameen Phone (GP) in collaboration with new Operating System Firefox OS and device partner Symphony has launched new low cost smartphone to reach benefit of internet to the mass.
The new smartphone was launched at an event held at a local hotel on Tuesday.
The phone named Symphony Go Fox F15 is considered as the smart phone of unreached community.
"About 80 per cent of Bangladeshi are yet to reach internet and as a part of GP's ambition to bring Internet for all, we want to bring new experience of internet for people from all steps," Grameen Phone Chief Executive Officer Vivek Sud told The Daily Observer.
"We always try to promote local innovation as well as educating people using bless of Internet," he added further.
Under the tagline " Fun ways to earn free internet, customers using GP's youth brand Bandhu will able to unlock the unique offers. Popular Application like Facebook , Twitter, You Tube are built in the phone, he said.
"We are happy to partner with local companies to reach common people with internet in their affordable range" Mozilla Chief Technical Officer Andress Gal also told The Daily Observer.
The smart phone with the processor of 1 gigahertz, Firefox operating system 1.4 and other configuration is unveiled in the retail price of Tk 4,650.
Telenor Group Digital Service Head Rolv-Eik Spilling, Symphony Chairman Aminur Rashid spoke among others.
