
Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon on Wednesday said the present government is actively considering building an airport in seaport city Khulna.
"We are actively considering building an airport as well as five star hotel and tourism training institute in Khulna to attract more tourists to visit district's exciting tourism spots including the world's largest mangrove forest Sundarbans," he said.
The minister made the remark as a delegation of greater Khulna Development Forum gave a memorandum to him at his ministry office at secretariat here demanding building an airport in Khulna.
The delegation included forum's adviser Mizanur Rahman Mizan, MP. Chairman Sharif Shafiqul Hamid Chandan gave memorandum to the minister.
In the memorandum, the forum mentioned that Khulna has been losing tourists as well as foreign buyers despite having exciting tourist spots and shrimp firms due to lack of airport and modern hotels facilities.
