CHITTAGONG, Oct 12: Javed Jahangir, the prime suspect of the murder of Jubo League leader Abdul Jabbar of Satkania, will be produced before a court in Indian state West Bengal tomorrow (Monday).
West Bengal police arrested the Bangladeshi citizen from Jayantipur Bazar area under Bangaon police station on October 9 for his suspicious movement without any legal document.
On the same day, he was produced before the court and the police appealed for a five-day remand which was granted by the Judge.
According to Satkania police, Javed, a cadre of Islami Chhatra Shibir, the student front of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, is an accused in eight cases, including the murder case of Keochia Union Parishad Jubo League leader Abdul Jabbar. Javed has been absconding since July 10 when he was granted bail by Bangladesh's High Court, though the accused made an confessional statement on his involvement in Jabbar murder.
After his release on bail, Javed crossed the border on September 12.
When contacted, M Khaled Hussain Officer-in-Charge of Satkania police station, told the Daily Observer that he had not yet received any documents regarding the arrest of Javed Jahangir by the West Bengal police.
He also could not confirm whether the man arrested by the Bangaon police is absconding Javed Jahangir.
Meanwhile the West Bengal police are on search of Nasarullah, an activist of Bakalia Jamaat-e-Islami in connection with the explosion at Khagrachara under Burdwan district.
According to a source, Nasarullah fled away from the spot after explosion of bomb on a two-storied building on October 2 last.
He was declared the most wanted accused by the West Bengal Intelligence police.
Nasarullah is the son of late Abdul Latif of Bakalia.
