Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Thursday said there is no fund crisis in constructing Dhaka Elevated Expressway.
"Physical work of the expressway was started today... process of fund mobilization has been started, which is expected to be completed by coming December," he told reporters while witnessing the construction work of the public private partnership project.
He said the first phase of land acquisition has been completed while the second and third phases are in under process.
Land development work to construct the rehabilitation centre for the people affected by the expressway project is going to start in November, added Quader.
The minister hoped: "The dwellers of Dhaka city would use the expressway by 2017 if all things are run on track."
Bridge Division Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam and other officials were present.
The route of the Dhaka Elevated Expressway shall commence at Shahjalal International Airport and run alongside New Airport Road, along the rail alignment through Mohakhali, Tejgaon and Moghbazar to Kamalapur rail station and then the Expressway shall pass through Golapbag on the south of the Kamalapur Stadium, east of Jatrabari and connect Dhaka-Chittagong Highway near Kutubkhali.     ?BSS
