Power supply resumes in Ctg

CHITTAGONG: The entire port city of Chittagong and its adjoining areas were out of power from 11.30am to 5pm on Saturday following  the failure of national grid.

The entire city went out of power at about 11.30 am causing a serious disruption in production as well as business and trade activities.

According to the PDB sources, the national grid has collapsed at around 11:30 am due to a glitch on the National Grid at Bheramara upazila's Sholodagh.

Following the glitch on the National Grid, generation in all the plants of the country suspended. So, the country experienced a heavy shut down.

But in Chittagong, generation in four units of Kaptai Hydel station resumed in the afternoon, generating nearly 192 MW.

The PDB sources said, generation in Hathazari peaking power plant also resumed. Generation in Shikalbaha 150 MW sattion and Dohazari resumed after 7 pm.

PDB sources said, the units in Chittagong are generating more than 400 MW in the evening against the demand of 700 MW.
