TANGAIL, Nov 15: Throwing a challenge to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Krishak Sramik Janata League president Kader Siddiqui on Saturday said she cannot remain in power for even a month if he is arrested.
"Arrest me right now if you have the courage. You (Hasina) can't stay in power for a month even though no movement is waged. If you can, I'll wear bangles around my wrists," he said.
The KSJL chief was addressing a rally at Kachua High School ground in Sakhipur upazila in the afternoon.
The rally was organised protesting the 'vote looting' by Awami League in the by-polls to Sakhipur-Basail constituency on November 15, 1999 and demanding a fresh national election with the participation of all political parties.
A Dhaka court on Tuesday issued a warrant for the arrest of Kader Siddiqui in a defamation case filed for calling former Home Minister MK Alamgir a 'Razakar'.
On February 19 last year, National Freedom Fighters Foundation general secretary Ruhul Amin Majumder filed the libel suit against Kader Siddiqui.
Kader Siddiqui said he would call a Razakar the Razakar even if he is to spend his whole life in jail. "To me, there's no difference between a residence and the jail. All is same." ?UNB
