A Dhaka court on Sunday placed Humayun Sultan, son of former Awami League MP Tipu Sultan, on three-day remand on charge of killing his wife Dr Shamaruf Mehjabin Kona.
Metropolitan magistrate Anwar Sadat accepted the remand prayer as Dhanmondi police pleaded for 10-day remand after producing him before the court.
Humayun was arrested in connection with the murder of his wife on Thursday night.
On Friday, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Erfan Ullah ordered to send Humayun Sultan to jail.
The victim's father engineer Nurul Islam filed a murder case with Dhanmondi police station in connection with the murder of his daughter.
In the case, he accused former MP Tipu Sultan, his wife Dr Jesmine Ara Begum and son Humayun Sultan for the murder of his daughter.
It was alleged that Dr Shamaruf Mehjabin Kona was beaten and strangled first. Afterward, her body was kept hanging with the grills of the window. Later, the body was taken to a the Central Hospital at Dhanmondi by her mother-in-law Jesmine Ara Begum where doctors declared Kona dead.
Kona used to live with her husband, father-in-law and mother-in-law at a rented house at House No. 14, Road No. 6, Dhanmondi in the capital.
