KHULNA, Nov 24: Awami League-led 14-party alliance-backed Sammilito Ainjibi Samonnay Parishad won seven posts including president and general secretary while BNP led 20-party alliance backed Sarbodoliyo Ainjibi Oikkyo Parishad secured seven posts including one vice president in the annual polls of Khulna Lawyers Association on Sunday.
The election was held from 9.00am to 3.00pm at the auditorium of Khulna Lawyers Association.
A total of 1030 voters out of 1142 cast their votes. Chairman of the Election Commission advocate Abdullah Hossain Bacchu announced the results early Monday.
AL-led 14-party alliance backed elected executives are president Kazi Abu Shaheen, vice president Md Rustom Ali Mridha, general secretary Ayub Ali Sheikh, literature and cultural secretary SM Kamal Hassan and three members KM Abu Nixon, Amena Nazneen Dolly and Nahidul Islam Russel.
BNP-led 20-party alliance backed elected office executives are vice president Akter Zahan Ruku, joint secretary Towhidur Rahman Chowdhury Tusher, library secretary Sheikh Md Hanif Uddin and four members Shahidul Islam, GM Mohebbur Rahman Mohibul, Mamunur Rashid and Kabirul Islam Sagar.
According to Election Commission, president Shaheen secured 622 votes while his competent Md Abul Hossain obtained 393 votes. General secretary Ayub Ali Shekh secured 523 votes while his opponent SM Mahfuzur Rahman Mahfuz got 426 votes.
A total of 29 aspirants including an independent candidate contested for 14 executive posts in the polls.
