National grid to get 341mw more power from Saturday

The national power grid is going to have 341 megawatt electricity from Saturday. The electricity is going to be added from Bibiyana-II Power Plant situated at Nabiganj in Habiganj district.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the project formally on Saturday morning.

She will also lay the foundation-stone of Bibiyana-I and Bibiyana-III Power Plants. The Prime Minister will also the foundation-stone of Shahzibazar Power Plant on Saturday.

The production capacity of Bibiyana-I Power Plant will be 383 megawatt while Bibiyana-III Power Plant will be 400 megawatt. The production capacity of Shahzibazar Power Plant will be 330 megawatt. These projects are likely to start generating electricity within the next two years.

The construction work of the Bibiyana-2 Power Plant at Parkul-Bangaon area on the bank of the river Kushiara started on 11 acres of land in 2013. The power plant has been implemented by Summit Group, a private power company, near the Bibiyana gas field.

It is learnt that the power plant would use about 60 million cft gas from Bibiyana gas field daily to generate the estimated power.

"A total of 1,113 mw power will be added in the national grid when those three plants are in the operation," a source said.
