All sorts of preparation are afoot to arrange Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) known as the biggest yearly exhibition of goods and services of the country.
As usual the fair will be held in the sprawling ground adjacent to the Sher-e- Bangla nagar's Bangabandhu Inter-national Conference Centre (BICC). But compared to earlier occasions, Export Promotion Bureau [EPB] will bring in some variations in the fair this time to make the occasion more attractive and gorgeous; sources close to DITF told the Daily Observer.
Vice Chairman of EPB Subhasish Basu said "There will be variation in the fair this time. For this, various types of moves are being taken. Since similar types of commodities were displayed at different places it seemed disorderly in the previous years. For this reason spaces for stalls of similar types of commodities are being allotted at one place."
Preparations are going on for beginning the fair from the first day of the year. This time it will be possible to start the fair at the scheduled time. Security system has been strengthened for the fair, he said.
EPB officials said for display of different commodities in disorderly manner in the previous years, buyers had to face some difficulties. For this reason spaces for similar types of commodities are being allotted at one place.
Among them, stalls of different commodities of similar types including clothes, jewellery, household commodities, cosmetics, toys, food items and handicraft will be allotted at a same place. For women entrepreneurs there will be 29 reserved stalls. For entertainment of children there will be two instead of one park."
There will be E-Park for the first time in the fair this time. There will be game competition for the new generation on this occasion.
Moreover, there will be variation in the eco-park. Although there were displays of images of birds and animals last year there will be special arrangements for displays of live birds and animals.
In the first aid centre there will be awareness program for the diabetes patients. Besides, EPB has a plan for the display of traditional Jamdani weaving programme and two foreign cuisine restaurants.
This time the gate has been leased out for Tk. 5 crore and 1 lakh and 50 thousands. Last year, it was for Tk 3 crore 52 lakh. The entry ticket will be similar to last year's.
