Zaglul Ahmed Chy killed in road mishap

Renowned journalist and columnist Zaglul Ahmed Chowdhury, passed away Saturday night at a city hospital following a road accident.
His son said that he was declared dead at 8:30 pm while undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit of the city's Comfort Hospital. According to sources, the consulting editor of the Financial Express met with the tragic accident while getting down from a bus at Karwan Bazar in the city at about 8:00 pm.
He was first admitted to a nearby hospital but as his condition deteriorated, he was transferred to the Comfort Hospital at the Green Road.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed shock at the news of his death. The Prime Minister also conveyed her condolences to the bereaved family in a statement last night.
Zaglul was made Chief Editor and Managing Director of BSS news agency in 2006.
Chowdhury served as a special correspondent of the agency for 35 years.
He wrote on South Asia and worked as diplomatic correspondent for the major part of his career.
He authored a number of books, including 'Bangladesh's Relations with India, Myanmar and Nepal: The Impact on Citizens and Development'.
