Awami League general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam on Monday said verdicts of the International Crimes Tribunals will be executed defying all threats.

"Verdicts on the war criminals will be executed no matter how many threats come in the way," he said, urging all to be cautious so that no one can create chaos in this regard.

Syed Ashraf, also the LGRD and Cooperatives Minister, was addressing a programme organised by Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad in front of the National Museum at Shahbagh in the city.

Mentioning that the country's independence was not achieved only by holding discussions, the AL leader said it had to be earned through a bloody war. "There’re few nations in the world who achieved the independence through waging wars."

He also alleged that the defeated forces of the Liberation War are hatching conspiracies against the country.

Syed Ashraf also underscored the need for presenting the true history of the Liberation War before the new generation so that they can cherish its spirit.
