Jt Secy Jahangir sent on forced retirement for meeting Khaleda

AKM Jahangir, joint secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, has been sent on forced retirement.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued a circular in this regard on Thursday afternoon.
Signed by Mohibul Huq, additional secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, the circular states that joint secretary AKM Jahangir has completed 25-year of his service tenure. The government thinks that he should be sent on retirement for "public interest." So, the government has relieved of from service according to Section 9(2) of Government Employees Rules 1974.
Media have recently reported that AKM Jahangir was one of the government officials who attended a meeting with BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia at her Gulshan political office in the capital recently.

There were reports that some 20 to 30 government officials and employees led by a joint secretary held a closed-door meeting with BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia late at night on December 4. However, the party's acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir denied of such a meeting issuing a press release at that night.

But, State Minister for Public Administration Ismat Ara Sadeque told reporters that the government had taken the news of the meeting "very seriously" and would take administrative steps against the government officials for attending the meeting.

Afterward, sources at the Ministry of Public Administration said the list of the officials and employees attending the meeting was collected through three intelligence agencies. The ministry of examining the names of those mentioned in the list. The administrative steps would be taken after finalising the issue of identification.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday Ismat Ara Sadeque said the officials attending the meeting were identified. Administrative steps would be taken against them as early as possible.
