SYLHET, Dec 11: The Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) Prof Aminul Haque Bhuiyan has pinned hope to reopen the violence-marred university as soon as possible.
He held a meeting in this regard on Thursday with senior teachers of the university, mainly Awami League-backed, and also the leaders of Teacher's Association,
After the meeting, he told the journalists that they are optimistic to reopen the varsity soon.
Campus sources said the meeting was held with the VC in the chair at the university's syndicate hall from 10:00am to 2:00pm.
In this connection, after the meeting, Dean of Social Science Faculty Prof Abdul Awal Bishwas said, "We're optimistic to reopen the campus very soon."
Some sources complained that the authorities remained indifferent to take any necessary steps to reopen the varsity before the meeting had been held.
In this connection VC Prof Aminul Haque Bhuiyan expressed his optimism to reopen the varsity.
Mentionable, the SUST authority has closed SUST for sine die following a clash between two factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League of SUST unit that left one dead and over 40 seriously injured including SUST Proctor Prof Himadri Sekhar Roy on November 20.
