A Dhaka court on Wednesday asked former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia to appear before the court on December 24 in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case.
At a makeshift court erected on the ground of Alia Madrasha at Bakhshi Bazar, Bashudeb Roy, the judge of Special Judge's Court No-3 passed the above order, after taking partial deposition of the complainant of the case, Deputy Director (DD) of Anti Corruption Commission (ACC), Harun-or-Rashid amid Hullabaloo of pro- BNP lawyers.
Earlier, the court rejected the prayer of adjournment of BNP chairperson's lawyers as they submitted an adjournment petition before the court apprehending that they would not get proper justice in this court. Besides this, a case expressing no confidence in the trial court has been pending with the High Court. Among the pro-BNP lawyers Advocate AJ Mohammad Ali, Barrister Rafiqul Islam Miah, Joinal Abedin and Sanaullah Miah participated in the hearing.
On the other hand, a group of ACC lawyers led by Mosharraf Hossain Kajol pleaded before the Court to continue recording deposition of the complainant.
After a long hearing, the court ordered to start the recording deposition of the complainant Harun-or-Rashid.
