Chittagong : An Awami League activist was gunned down by armed assailants at Kanchana Fultala in Satkania upazila on Friday night.

Dead Jamaluddin, 32, son of Bodi Alam, was an activist of local Awami League, police said.

Quoting witnesses, Satkania thana OC Khaled Hossain said Jamal came under attack while gossiping with friends at Fultala Bazar at about 7:30pm. A group of three or four youths, by an auto-rickshaw, came to the scene at that time. They sprayed bullets on Jamal and left the place, leaving him dead on the spot.     

Chittagong (south) district general secretary Mofizur Rahman, however, blamed the Jamaat-Shibir men for the killing.
