The BNP Chief came up with the announcement while talking to journalists at the main gate of her Gulshan political office on Monday afternoon after she failed to come out to join the party’s pre-scheduled rally at Nayapaltan marking the January 5 as ‘Democracy Murder Day’.
Terming the ruling Awami Legue led government illegal, the leader of the 20-party alliance said, agitation will continue.
The people of the country will force the illegal government to quit shedding their blood if needed, she said.
Earlier, the BNP chief got in her car around 3:50pm and tried to come out of the office.
But she couldn’t as police barred her from coming out of the office and kept the gate under lock and key.
Meanwhile, aggrieved BNP leaders and activists chanted various slogans against the government and tried to break the main gate locked by police.
At one stage, police used pepper spray to disperse them.
Speaking at the office premises, BNP chairperson’s special assistant Shimul Biswas said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday said Khaleda Zia was not confined and his State Minister for Home Asaduzzaman Kamal also claimed so.
Shimul Biswas also alleged that the government wants to establish a one-party rule undercover of democracy.
He said the BNP chief urged the country’s people to continue the movement against the government.
