Detective Branch of Police got into a car carrying Fakhrul and then drove straight to the DB office at about 4:15pm.
Earlier, the BNP spokesperson addressed a press conference staying overnight at the Press Club. In the briefing, he urged all to join the movement under the leadership of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia for saving democracy.
The police personnel had been waiting to pick up Fakhrul with a prison van but could not bring him out of his car.
Flanked by the pro-BNP and Jamaat journalists, as soon as Fakhrul came out of the Club premises, some DB personnel got into his car. Later, the car was driven straight to the Minto Road DB office.
A police van also escorted Fakhrul's car, witnesses said.

As Mirza Fakhrul, JAGPA president Shafiul Alam Prodhan and some BNP leaders tried to come out of the Press Club after finishing the programme, AL supporters started chanting ‘Joy Bangla’ slogans. They then entered inside the Press Club and stayed overnight there.
Meanwhile, the pro-ruling party journalist leaders staged demonstration on the Press Club Premises Tuesday noon protesting the stay of political leaders at the National Press Club and asked the authorities to drive them out.
A DB source, however, informed that Mirza Fakhrul will be produced before the court on Wednesday.
Deputy commissioner of the DMP said Mirza Fakhrul is an accused of a number of cases.
