7 buses torched in capital

Seven buses were set on fire at different pats of the capital on Wednesday, the second day of the countrywide transport blockade enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance.

Witnesses said a bus of ‘Shikar Paribahan’ was set afire at Shewrapara in the capital near a police box at about 9:05 am.

Local people doused the fire immediately.

Miscreants torched two buses of ‘Dishari Paribahan’ near Tolarbagh in Mirpur-1 around 2:35 pm.

A bus was set ablaze near Rampura TV Bhaban around 1:35 pm while another in Baitul Mukarram area at about 6:15 pm.

A bus of ‘Tanjil Paribahan’ was set afire near Victoria Park in Old Dhaka at about 6:55 pm and another one near Azimpur Orphanage at about 7:00 pm.

However, no one was injured in the incidents.

Having failed to come out of her office to join her alliance’s planned rally in the city, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Monday announced a countrywide blockade until they come up with a fresh decision.
