Moulvibazar : Five compartments of a train derailed in Shamshernagar in Kulaura upazila early Thursday as miscreants removed fishplates of the rail tracks left over 100 passengers injured.
Rail communications on the Dhaka-Chittagong route remained snapped following the accident.
Kulaura station master M Shamsul Alam said five bogies of the Chittagong-bound “Udayan Express” from Sylhey with about 700 passengers on board veered off the track at about 3:06am, leaving over 100 people injured.
On information, two fire fighting units from Moulvibazar and Kulaura fire service rescued the injured passengers and sent them to different hospitals, he said.
The blockaders might have removed the fishplates as an act of sabotage, he added.
