A 20-member high-level business delegation leaves here for China on Tuesday afternoon to attend BCIM (Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar) Business Forum and BCIM Business Council meeting.
President Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed will lead the delegation.
Bangladesh will formally take over the responsibility of chairing the BCIM Business Council for the next two years.
Akram Uddin Ahmed will take up the responsibility of the chair on Thursday, said a FBCCI media release on Monday.
FBCCI delegation will attend the events at the invitation of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT).
FBCCI first vice president Monowara Hakim Ali and former director AKM Shamsuddoha, among others, will address the BCIM Business Council.
The agreement to set up a Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar (BCIM) Business Forum to strengthen cooperation in economic, trade and investment between the countries was signed by representatives of Chambers of Commerce from the four countries in February 2012.
Representatives of the FBCCI, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the Confederation of India Industry (CII) and the Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry signed the agreement.
The Forum will organise business delegations for visits and exchanges of business information as well as participation in international conferences, trade fairs and exhibitions in the four countries.
The meetings of the Business Council are held once a year tohosted by the country that is organising the BCIM Forum meeting.
