Iqbal Sobhan’s village home torched; One held

Feni : Miscreants set afire the village home of Prime Minister’s Media Adviser and Daily Observer Editor Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury at Fatehpur in Sadar upazila early Tuesday.

The miscreants torched two straw stacks at the house of Shah Alam and Kamaluddin, paternal uncles of Iqbal Sobhan, at about 1am.

Sensing the arson attack, villagers informed police. Later fire fighters rushed in and doused the flame before causing major damage.

Meanwhile, police detained Rafiq, 25, son of Jalu Miah of the village  for his alleged involvement in this incident.

Shah Alam, uncle of the adviser, filed a case with Feni Model thana this afternoon accusing 12 identified and several unnamed people.

Ziaul Haque, sub-inspector of the thana, confirmed the matter of torching straw stacks at the house of Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury.
