BNP Senior Leader MK Anwar on Saturday claimed that their Chairperson Khaleda Zia said there was no scope for her alliance to retreat from the ongoing movement until people's voting right is restored.
"There's no chance to back off from the movement, and it'll go on until people's voting right is restored," he quoted Khaleda as telling him as he met her at night.
Anwar, a BNP Standing Committee Member, met the BNP chief at her Gulshan political office around 8:30pm where she has reportedly been confined since January 3.
Talking to reporters, the senior BNP leader also said Khaleda Zia has almost overcome her illness caused by the use of pepper spray by law enforcers on the premises of her Gulshan office in her presence on January 5. "She's now very confident and her morale is also high."
He alleged that the government is using law enforcers politically. "A stigmatised chapter has initiated in the country as many public servants are making statements like politicians."
Condemning the recent remarks of chiefs of BGB, police and Rab over the opposition's movement, Anwar said they will have to be accountable for this one day.
The BNP leader called upon the law enforcement agencies to work with professionalism and stand beside people.    ?UNB
