The additional police have been withdrawn in front of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office early Monday after 15 days of deployment.

BNP sources said, sand-laden trucks and water cannon were removed around 2:30am.

Police also unlocked the main gate.

Meanwhile, police officials have denied making any comment in this regard.

BNP is observing its founder Ziaur Rahman’s 79th birth anniversary today.

Earlier on Sunday, the BNP chairperson’s media wing member Shayrul Kabir Khan said senior leaders would lead the party men paying homage to its founder as Khaleda has been 'confined' to her Gulshan office. BNP chief was confined at her office from January 4, a day before the much-hyped rally in the capital to mark 'Democracy Killing Day'. Since then, Khaleda has been staying at her office and a rest room beside it.

BNP vice-chairman Selima Rahman, Khaleda Zia’s special assistant Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, press secretary Maruf Kamal Khan and Mahila Dal general secretary Shirin Sultana and a few other women leaders have also been, among others, staying with the party chief. Besides, 43 members of her security personnel and office staff have also been there inside her office.
