Staff Correspondent State Minister for Home Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Tuesday told reporters at his office at the secretariat that those who would help the government catch miscreants responsible for violence during strikes and blockades would be rewarded. Asaduzzaman Khan said, "There are rewards for those who hand over miscreants responsible for setting fire to public property or throwing bombs on the people to the police. The Ministry of Home will make a formal announcement soon in this connection." However, the State Minister did not elaborate on such reward. The amount of the reward will be informed later, the state minister said. At least 25 people have already been killed, mostly in arson attacks during the hartal and blockade programme of BNP-led 20-party alliance. Talking about the issue of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's confinement in her Gulshan office, Kamal said additional police forces had been deployed in a bid to ensure her security as the government had intelligence that her life was in danger. As there is no such risk, we withdrew the security measures.
