Satkhira: A suspected dacoit was killed and two police members were injured during a 'gunfight' in Tala upazila early Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Rafiqul Islam, 38.

Patkelghata Thana officer in-charge Tarikul Islam said, police arrested Tarikul on Tuesday from his house.

According to his statement, a team of police conducted a drive with Tarikul at night.

Sensing the presence of law enforcers, dacoits opened fire. Police also fired back which created a gunfight.

"Tarikul was caught in the line of fire," OC said.

He was rushed to Satkhira Sadar Hospital where he died later.

Tarikul was an accused of 12 cases, police said.

Police also seized a shutter-gun and two rounds of bullet from the spot.
