Power supply to the Gulshan office of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has been disconnected early Saturday, hours after threat by the Shipping Minister.

Dhaka Electric Supply Company Limited (Desco) severed the electricity line around 2:42am, said Shamsuddin Didar, a BNP media wing member.

A Desco source said, "We disconnected the line as per the instruction of Gulshan Police Station."

However, the connections of cable and internet of the office were also cut off around 11am.

Earlier on Friday, Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan warned of snapping power and the water supply of Khaleda Zia's office if she does not withdraw blockade and hartal before the SSC examination.

BNP chief has been staying at Gulshan office since January 3.
