Khaleda Zia sued for ordering Chouddagram arson attack

Comilla : BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has been sued for criminal solicitation with the arson attack in Chouddagram upazila of Comilla district early Tuesday that left seven people dead.

Chouddagram Police Station SI Nuruzzaman Hawlader filed two cases against Khaleda Zia and 56 named leaders of BNP and its allies, and  some 20 unnamed persons on Tuesday night.

Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, foreign affairs secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami and former MP, Jubo Dal central leader Qamrul Huda, Chouddagram upazila Jamaat president Shahabuddin and general secretary Shah M Mizanur Rahman are among the named accused in the cases.

One of the cases was filed for killing seven people in arson attack while another filed under Explosives Substance Act.

According to the case statement, the arson attack was carried out following an order of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

Seven people were burnt to death and 16 others received injuries as miscreants hurled a petrol bomb on the Dhaka-bound bus of ‘Icon Paribahan’ from Chittagong at Jogmohonpur in Chouddagram upazila during the nationwide 72-hour hartal, enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance early Tuesday.
