PM for Italian support to tap 'Blue Economy' potential

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday sought Italian expertise to tap the huge potentials of Bangladesh's 'Blue Economy'.
Hasina made the request when Deputy Foreign Minister of Italy Sen Benedetto Della Vedove met her at her official residence Ganobhaban in the evening.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, PM's Press Secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhuri said the Prime Minister at the meeting highlighted that the 'Blue Economy' could be a new avenue of cooperation between Italy and Bangladesh for exploiting offshore oil, gas, fisheries and other mineral resources.
Following her request of sending experts from Italy to enrich the 'Blue Economy' concept, the Italian Deputy Foreign Minister said they can organise a visit of an Italian expert team to work on Bangladesh' s 'Blue Economy'.
During the meeting, Hasina and Vedove discussed issues relating to bilateral interests and matters to further strengthen the economic relationship of the two countries.
The Italian Deputy Foreign Minister extended an invitation to the Prime Minister for attending the inaugural session of the Upcoming Expo at Milan in Italy in May next which will continue from May 1, 2015 to October 31, 2015.
He said some 1.20 lakh Bangladeshi expatriates are now living in Italy and they are very peaceful, hardworking as well as contributing much to the Italian economy.    ?UNB
